About the seda Technology Programmeline

The seda Technology Programme (originally the Godisa Trust), a special initiative of the national Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), is responsible for technology transfer and business incubation.

The organisation seeks to contribute to South Africa's economic development through the creation and support of technology business centres, which include incubators and technology demonstration centres. These centres provide a variety of business support services and office infrastructure to small enterprises.

There are five specific areas in which STP provides support to SMMEs:

•Advising on Appropriate Business Models to be Adopted
•Development and Implementation of Operating Systems
•Advisory and Consultancy Services

Centresline

The seda Technology Programme currently provides financial assistance to seventeen technology business centres, located throughout South Africa - each focusing on the support of small enterprises in a specific industry sector

These sectors include bio and life sciences, medical devises, bio-diesel, essential oils, chemicals, construction, floriculture, furniture, ICT, small-scale mining, stainless steel, aluminium and platinum, as well as metal beneficiation.

STP also oversees the investment of public sector funding in the various Technology Business Centres (TBCs) created for the process of technology transfer and diffusion. These centres not only play a sector development support role, but more specifically; focus on the development of black-owned SMMEs.
