Acorn Technologies has been involved in the creation of several businesses since inception in 2002 and has raised in the region of R170 million on behalf of clients. Current projects of Acorn Technologies includes a next generation apnoea monitor, which monitors an infant's breathing and intervenes and/or sounds an alarm should it detect a cessation in the child's breathing. The device is aimed at reducing the occurrence of cot death in infants.

In 2005 Acorn Technologies devised and launched two strategic initiatives aimed at the technology sector at large, firstly HELLFIRE™ (www.hellfire.org.za), a unique internship programme aimed at the empowerment and social upliftment of young science graduates in South Africa through developing and fostering their business acumen. Also FUNDMAN™ (www.fundman.org.za), a web-based resource designed to assist fund seekers in navigating the South African funding landscape by providing a searchable database of funders & investors in South Africa.
